M. Nicolas Malais has identified this stamp as the arms of Cardinal Le Tellier himself. His printed books, left to the Bibliothèque Ste-Geneviève, were bound in red morocco, so this copy of his catalogue bound in sprinkled calf was probably not from his library; it was perhaps a gift.
The book was part of a collection of books given to the Cathedral Library in 1714 by the Canterbury doctor and book collector Stephen Hunt who purchased many of his books in Paris.Dutch prize binding
